Christmas 2006
2006 was a great year. A new train engine was built to handle the demand of pulling the cars up and down the sloped yard. It has a powerful motor and much larger battery.

In addition a wonderful surprise happened at our display this year. Bill, a coworker of mine, had met Wendi on eHarmony.com and decided it was time they got engaged. He gave me the ring ahead of time (very trusting guy ha ha) and I placed it in a special box inside one of the train cars. The box had Wendi’s name on the tag and was put out with the train on the pre-selected night. I had given Bill a special remote control to stop the train on his command. After their dinner out he brought her by to see the display. As they were walking up and down the sidewalk Bill secretly pushed the button in his pocket to stop the train. As the train came to a rolling stop right at the sidewalk, he told her it stops from time to time and he needed to go and give it a push. He entered the yard and noticed the box with Wendi’s name on it and flagged her to come and take a closer look. As she was approaching, he removed the ring from the box and dropped down on one knee to ask her the question. At that moment, a life long memory was made for the two of them. We attended their wedding in 2007 and feel blessed to be part of their engagement story. Congratulations Bill and Wendi!
